INSURANCE ‘AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION = POUND OF CURE’

We wish to highlight the risks many importers are taking by not adequately insuring their goods against the risk of damage or loss.

Your business is important to us so you need to be aware of:

‧ The freight forwarding industry has conditions which limit liability in the case of insurance claims.

‧ For example with air-freight our own conditions essentially mirror those of IATA/Airline terms of carriage based on an International Convention of which New Zealand is a signatory.

‧ Ocean-freight shipments are largely carried at owner's care and recently this legal standing was tested at the Privy Council.

All Risks Insurance is therefore a pre-requisite for anyone conducting international transport.

We strongly suggest that you talk to your Insurance Company or Broker to arrange a policy to cover your requirements, or we can offer cover on a shipment by shipment basis.

We here at Gateway Cargo Systems{S.I}Ltd would rather be the fence at the top of the cliff than the ambulance at the bottom.

Please be careful out there and call us for advice.

A full copy of our company Conditions of Trade is available by contacting our office and outlines additional important aspects of terms of carriage eg. risk, liability, title etc.

Shipments carried by Gateway Cargo Systems (S.I) Ltd are moved on the basis these terms are understood fully prior to shippping. If you have any questions please call us for advice or clarification.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Gilbert & Jamie Steel.
